It was dark, about 9:30 PM, while walking my 2 dogs, I thought a sharp branch pierced my foot. I brushed my foot with my hand to rub off the pain, but the pain felt different. The pain persisted and it felt like someone jabbed my foot with an icepick. I went under a streetlight and saw several puncture spots resembling large bee stings – then I realized it was a centipede bite.
Have you ever been bit by a centipede? Yikes! It hurts… and the pain lasted several hours and I still felt it the next morning. The next few evenings on my dog walks, I carried a flashlight, looking for that buggah 🙂
The darkness in this world and surrounding our lives can affect our lives. Aren’t you thankful for Jesus being the Light of our world, the Light who lives in us? He shines His conviction within our hearts to warn us even of our own dark places – so we don’t venture into the “bite and sting” of sinfulness. Be encouraged friends – Jesus our Light, lives within us – so may we yield to the voice of His Light, to be vigilant and hungry to shine His love to the people around us.
1 John 1:5 NIV This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
