The Knowledge of His Will

“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding …”
Colossians 1:9 ESV

One of the most asked questions by Christians is “How do I know what is God’s will for my life?”

When I received the Lord at age 19, seeking “God’s will” for my life was very new to me. I was used to living life my way, my will, with my desires. How does God’s will interact with our desires and will?

I would have never imagined at age 23, marrying a beautiful haole from Kansas City and having not 1, not 2, but 3 rascal kids! (pictured at about 9, 7, and 4 years of age 🙂)

Hearing God’s voice, let alone knowing His will can be challenging, to say the least! Today, I want to simply and seriously remind us to trust God as much as we can, each step of the way and to pray this prayer Paul prayed for the Colossians!

The fact is, we will not always be certain what God’s will is or will be for our lives. But we can rest in the hope that God will be faithful to fill us with spiritual wisdom and understanding.

May I encourage you to continue to desire and seek God’s will in all areas of your life. “Seek first the Kingdom of God” (Matt. 6:33) in all areas of your life. It could be that God wants to mold and transform our hearts, to trust Him in the process of life’s decisions.

Our God is TOV and His ways are TOV… all the time!
