I am deciding to introduce our new series this Sunday, August 17th, “The Bible & Jesus Revival.” With prayerful expectation, I’m believing the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts and daily lives to more deeply and passionately love and live for Jesus!
What do you think about when you hear the word “revival“?
Depending on your spiritual upbringing, some think more of this as an Evangelistic Tent Revival or a radical time where Christians come to deeper repentance, and a reverent worship of Jesus. Or a “move of” the Holy Spirit with signs and wonders. I’m sure we all have some differing thoughts and perspectives on what revival is and should look like, according to what we believe in the Bible.
As pastors—and as followers of Jesus—we often say, “We believe, teach, and live according to the Truth found in the Bible.” Yet, the truth is, we each approach God’s Word through the lens of our own understanding, convictions and how we interpret what the Bible is saying.
This series will equip us to understand God’s Word with better clarity and confidence—learning how to interpret and observe the Bible faithfully. The BIG PRAYER is for us to grow in understanding of God’s Word, so His truths will ignite a genuine Jesus Revival in our hearts, to live out God’s Word in genuine, practical ways. We will invite the Holy Spirit to stir and transform our hearts to grow in manoa love with Jesus, follow Him more passionately, and live out His truth in every part of our lives.
“If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” John 14:15-17 NIV
A revival of relationship is God’s heart for us. To keep His commands is to know His commands. And to know His commands is to love Jesus. And to love Jesus is to have the favor of the Father and know that the Spirit of Truth LIVES IN US and will BE WITH US… forever!
My prayer is that these truths will spark a genuine Jesus Revival in each of our hearts.
