This is today’s Advent devotional from the Advent book I wrote:

“The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, they gave the right to become children of God …”
John 1:9-12

The True Light came. Jesus arrived. He, the maker of the world, came to His own family, His own people, but was not received.

Then the doors of God’s invitation for ALL to come to Him were opened. To ALL who RECEIVED, to ALL who BELIEVED, became children of God!

Rejection or reception? God was mistreated here on earth. Jesus, Emmanuel was rejected, beaten, and crucified. He still is being rejected and mistreated, isn’t He? Have you been hurt, felt used, mistreated, or overlooked?

Our tendency is to reject others. If we are accepted, loved, liked, or befriended then we are apt to receive people into friendship.

Aren’t you grateful that no matter “how we act or respond” Jesus always receives us … ALL THE TIME! Jesus is good, all the time!
