PASTOR ROD’S WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL

Friday, August 21, 2026
Aloha Friday NHM ‘Ohana!
“From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.” — John 1:16
Life comes in seasons.
Some seasons are filled with joy and clarity. Others bring change, uncertainty, disappointment, waiting, or even loss.
But no matter the season of life we are in, we all need…
CONTINUED…
… grace! God’s grace – and the grace of others. As Christ-followers, we should strive to be people of grace – who give grace.
[RECEIVING GOD’S GRACE]
Has anyone ever made you feel fully loved, forgiven, accepted, understood, seen… even when you don’t deserve it? Wowzah! Thank God for that person in your life! For those people you’ve encountered unconditional grace through!
Receiving and experiencing this kind of grace is so empowering – especially through times of failure or weakness. I’m reminded of Paul’s desperate plea for God to remove his personal, persistent failures and weaknesses. God answered…
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. —2 Cor. 12:9-10
Paul received and experienced the grace of God and the power that came with it!
Sometimes we are hardest on ourselves. “I should be stronger – better – know what to do.” But Jesus doesn’t say, “Try harder and be self-sufficient.” He says, “My grace is sufficient.” We all need to receive the grace of Jesus for our weaknesses, limitations, trials and difficulties.
I encourage you, whatever season of life you are in, whatever your week or month has thrown at you, say it right now…
“I need and receive Your grace, Lord Jesus! Thank You, Holy Spirit, for empowering me to be and live in the grace and image of Christ … by faith, not being dictated by my emotions, circumstances, failures or weaknesses! I love YOU, GODHEAD – Daddy God, Jesus and Holy Spirit!”

The booklet is downloadable and video teaching links are available below. Hard copies are available at our Welcome Table on Sundays.

Are you interested in being water baptized?

If you are interested in being water baptized, please read the brochure. Reach out to Pastor Rod or Malia to schedule a personal baptism date. Invite your friends and family to celebrate your monumental decision!
What is the significance of water baptism? Baptism signifies that through repentance, forgiveness, and faith, we belong to Jesus. As Christians, we are identifying with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. ≫Read more

GIVING AT MĀNOA
Tithes & Offering: What Our Pastor Believes
“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’ And God will generously provide all you need. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous.“
2 Corinthians 9:7-8 NLT

The bottom line to me (my opinion and belief) is that as Christians, we should ask God where He wants us to give and how much.
I’ve been asked numerous times, “Pastor, do I need to give 10% of my income to the church?” ≫Continue reading
