PASTOR ROD’S WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL

Friday, October 23, 2026
Aloha Friday NHM ‘Ohana!
PARTNERING WITH YOU…!
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:17 NIV
My heart is bursting with thanks… to God for Francine!

Fran (and her hubby Byron) is stepping out in faith to facilitate partnering with Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan’s Purse) to provide shoebox gifts to the less fortunate. Not having done anything like this before, Fran is responding to God’s prompting, and taking little steps of obedience! That totally blesses my pastor’s heart — to partner with Francine, Byron, and all of our ‘Ohana for His Kingdom!
Paul wrote to believers in Colossae, encouraging them to live out their new life in Christ through everyday obedience. He describes a community clothed in compassion, kindness, humility, and love, and brings it all together: whatever you say or do, let it represent and reflect Jesus—with gratitude to God.
That’s what I see unfolding in our church ‘Ohana… and I love partnering with you! Is there something God is prompting you to do in your family, workplace, our church or community… to express Jesus aloha?
As I’ve said in various ways, my vision is YOU — growing mānoa in your relationship with Jesus! I want to see you hearing His voice, becoming more rooted in His love, and responding to what He is stirring in your heart. I’m so thankful to walk alongside you and partner with what God is doing in your life.
This Thanksgiving and Christmas season, something as simplicity of filling a shoebox can become an expression of that aloha. As we partner with Fran, Byron — and Jesus 🙂 —we get to encourage their steps of faith and participate in sharing the aloha of Jesus with others.
So what is He speaking to you about? You may feel inexperienced or unsure where to begin. Start by listening, praying, and taking the next faithful step with Him.
Mahalo, Fran, for your willing heart! And mahalo, ‘ohana, for serving, supporting, giving and growing in Jesus together. Whatever we do, may we do it in Jesus name — with hearts thankful hearts!!

BELONGING | OUR CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
Does our church have a membership course? If you are curious what our pastor or church believes about membership, please visit the link below.
“Belonging to God and New Hope Mānoa: Our Family Declaration” is what we would refer to as our membership course.
The booklet is downloadable and video teaching links are available below. Hard copies are available at our Welcome Table on Sundays.

Are you interested in being water baptized?

If you are interested in being water baptized, please read the brochure. Reach out to Pastor Rod or Malia to schedule a personal baptism date. Invite your friends and family to celebrate your monumental decision!
What is the significance of water baptism? Baptism signifies that through repentance, forgiveness, and faith, we belong to Jesus. As Christians, we are identifying with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. ≫Read more

GIVING AT MĀNOA
Tithes & Offering: What Our Pastor Believes
“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’ And God will generously provide all you need. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous.“
2 Corinthians 9:7-8 NLT

The bottom line to me (my opinion and belief) is that as Christians, we should ask God where He wants us to give and how much.
I’ve been asked numerous times, “Pastor, do I need to give 10% of my income to the church?” ≫Continue reading
