“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit— just as you were called to one hope when you were called— 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. ” Ephesians 4:2-5 NIV
The outcome of who leads the White House should not deter our love and grace for each other in God’s house.
God’s family should continue to determine what matters most and what doesn’t in light of the Presidential election results.
Of course in God’s family, Biblical, worldview, or life discussions can often lead to disagreements and division in relationships.
If we could live by the four qualities in verse two, we would have less quarrels and disputes: “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” And even when we disagree with one another about any topic or issue in life, the foundation of our relationships is our love for God and each other.
But UGH! It’s hard to live by these qualities in the fire of disagreements, disputes and divisions isn’t it! Lord, help me… help us all!
WE ARE BLOOD FAMILY.
What also helps my thoughts and heart responses (when I disagree with or I’m disappointed with other Christians) is being reminded that WE ARE ONE FAMILY, ALL IN RELATIONSHIP WITH ONE GOD! There’s no “step family, in-laws” or separation of any kind in God’s Family. WE ARE ONE FAMILY! I need to constantly remind myself of this fact, especially when I think of or am around Christians that I don’t respect or care for. We are Blood Family in Christ—through the Blood of Christ!
As God’s family under One God, belonging to One House, let’s pray for those in authority in the White House and all governing authorities. Let’s also choose to obey and live by Paul’s encouragement to us in Ephesians 4:2-6.
