Where are You when I need You?

“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
Psalm 62:5-8

If you’ve been in a situation where you’ve been used, taken advantage of, deceived, or burned by someone, it’s hard to dig yourself out of the hole of mistrust.

I remember when a pastor deceived me into thinking that he was not having an emotional affair with a sister-in-Christ. This sister was serving in a ministry I was overseeing. I sensed that her marriage had some tensions and she sought advice from my pastor friend. I confronted the pastor but did not have any solid evidence of an affair of any kind. But one thing led to another, and over a period of a few months, a nightmare became a reality. It was discovered that I was right. An emotional affair led to a physical one and so on!

I was lied to, bullied, and treated with disrespect but my personal issues with this pastor was NOTHING compared to the DAMAGE (he) caused two families, surrounding friendships, and ministries.

Now reread the Scripture above! This psalm points me to adjust any challenging or bad attitudes I have, and to set my heart and mind on God and WHO HE IS!

You may know of someone going through a difficult time, or it may be you. Would you reread Psalm 62:5-8 and make God your confession. Ask Him to help you to overcome what you can control. Often the battle in our thought life, our mind, multiplies and magnifies the challenge we are facing. For God alone is our hope, salvation, rock, fortress, refuge, and glory! And when we confess “I shall not be shaken” doesn’t mean we don’t get baffled or bruised. But it is a confession that says to God, the devil (enemy), our mind/soul, and the situation that we will not be overcome. God is in control and I PUT MY HOPE AND TRUST IN HIM!
