“…for this reason, brothers, in all our distress and affliction we have been comforted about you through your faith. For now we live, if you are standing fast in the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 3:7-8 ESV

My suffering or distress has been NO WHERE CLOSE to Paul’s. But wowzah! This week’s stomach bug had me sleeping in the bathroom all day—I was miserable!

I thought about Paul’s heart for the Thessalonian believers. Even while he was suffering, he was comforted knowing they were standing strong in their faith.

To me, true faith stands firm through the challenges of life. Our pain is not always removed, but our Jesus faith gives us strength to endure it. To “stand fast in the Lord” means to stay anchored when life feels shaky, to keep trusting Jesus when we are weak.

Can you imagine the three Hebrews who were standing firm in the faith, faithful in their sufferings, thrown into a fiery pit to be executed? How could they demonstrate commitment and faithfulness to their God with such conviction?

Whatever you’re facing today, big or small, I pray your faith is mānoa and anchored in Jesus. Others are encouraged when they see you standing strong—not because life is easy, but because Jesus is faithful.

“But the Lord is faithful. He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.”
2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NLT)

What situation are you facing today where God is inviting you to stand strong in your faith?

Lord, help me to stand strong in You when life is hard. Strengthen my heart through Your Spirit and let my faith help bring comfort and hope to others.
