Ready or not, here He comes!

I want to believe with all the suffering, loss and devastation as a result of the storm that hit our islands, our God is full of aloha and compassion!  And He’s using people — lots of people — who are coming together to serve, support, and help the hurting and needy.  The comm-unity is COMING INTO UNITY.  Many have stopped (put a pause on) their lives to help those in need.  I’m reminded when Jesus stopped, having heard the cries of two blind men, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” The crowd tried to silence them, but they get louder. And in the middle of His journey, Jesus stops. “What do you want me to do for you?”

WOWZAH!  Jesus — on His way to the cross — still stops with compassion for the hurting and needy.  “Jesus had compassion on them… Immediately they received their sight and followed Him.” (Matthew 20:34)  Ready or not, here comes Jesus with compassion! He entered the lives of the marginalized then and He still enters now.

Let’s keep crying out to Jesus in prayer, asking for His presence of grace and aloha and compassion to fill the hearts of all who’ve been affected throughout our islands, the volunteers, leaders, first responders, and our government workers and officials.

The blind men remind us to cry out to Jesus, despite the crowds or thinking that God has more important things to do or people to serve. Maybe today you feel overlooked, silenced, or stuck on the roadside of life.  Maybe you have your own self-doubts or insecurities.  But ready or not, Jesus is still on the move, entering our spaces and lives when we cry out.  The same Jesus who was on His way to the cross is the same Jesus who is alive now.  He will stop with compassion, and tend to our prayers, cries, and needs.
