In Gospel of Mark 7:24–30, we meet a mother desperate for her daughter’s healing. Her daughter is suffering, so the mother seeks the help of Jesus.
The deep love and care of the mother for her daughter compels her to cross huge cultural and spiritual barriers. The risk was far worth the healing of her daughter.
That’s what mānoa love does.
Mothers often carry burdens, pray prayers, and fight battles for their children no matter if others see or care. This mother didn’t seem to care about being rejected. It seems she went to Jesus believing He could help and heal her daughter.
Mānoa faith pushes past barriers, overcomes obstacles. The mother’s faith was humble, assertive and tenacious. And before she even got home, her daughter was healed.
A Mother’s Day Reminder
A praying mother matters.
Assertive, persistent faith matters.
Bringing concerns and needs to Jesus matters.
Behind transformed lives are those who pursues Jesus on their behalf.
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for creating women in Your image and gifting each one to fulfill Your purposes. Thank you for the gift of mothers! Jesus, thank You for moms and spiritual mothers who love, pray, and persevere. Strengthen every burdened and weary heart today. Please instill hope, healing, and freedom to every person reading/praying this, in Jesus name, amen.
