Aloha Friday ‘Ohana!
I was talking to a lady this week about the battle of my mouth, where I speak too much of my mind sometimes. She said, “Pastor Rod, all that is in your mind doesn’t have to come out of your mouth,”
Uhg…I know that is true, but sometimes I’m too…
CONTINUED…
… trapped in my headspace, overthinking issues or situations that flood my thoughts. And when it comes to “people or relational” issues or tensions, my mouth and words tends to be “to loose” if you know what I mean.
John 18:36 (The Message) “My kingdom,” said Jesus, “doesn’t consist of what you see around you. If it did, my followers would fight so that I wouldn’t be handed over to the Jews. But I’m not that kind of king, not the world’s kind of king.”
Jesus responded according to a different set of Kingdom rules. His response led to His execution. Could He have waffled, fibbed and compromised His answers to save His life? Then I think of how much I waffle and compromise, when I’m put to “my tests.”
Thinking of the passage above, my conviction is that we are not the world’s kind of people. I have and serve a different King, with different Kingdom commands.
So Lord…! Help me to be strong, definite, purposeful to know that I am not of this world. Help my mouth to reflect Your heart. I love You King Jesus and thank You for helping me not to speak “all” of my mind! YES LORD! 🙂
I’lll be speaking from the last section of John 18 this Sunday. Bring your Bibles, notebooks and let’s grow mānoa together in our King!

As a pastor, I’ve personally wrestled with the idea of my paycheck coming from people giving their “tithes/offerings.”
I continue to welcome questions and conversations to share my perspective and convictions involving church finances and the topic of “tithes/offerings.”

Mahalo to those of you who are part of our church ‘ohana or connected to my life or ministry – who give financially. I am sincerely humbled and grateful for your prayers, support, and giving. I ask that you do not use your charge card to give if you are in credit card debt. I also believe in worshipful, generous Kingdom giving… as unto God, not “to a church or pastor…”
I also don’t put a “percentage” to what people should give. Some may give 10 percent of their “gross or net pay.” Some 5…2…13… or whatever percentage of their income. The Bible teaches giving generously, cheerfully, and worshipfully.
You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. 2 Cor. 9:7-8 (NLT)

Prayers. Do you need prayer? It’s good to have a pastor to call or a Prayer Team to give your requests to. But what if WE ALL would take time, step out in boldness…wherever we are…to ask someone if they need prayer? And then…PRAY WITH THEM?
