He is closer than we think

WOWZAH! I can’t believe we are closing out June 2026 already. Time is flying by so quickly and I pray that you are piloting your schedule and life well.

This reminds me of two discouraged disciples who were walking away from Jerusalem, confused and disappointed by Jesus’ death. What they didn’t realize was that Jesus was present — walking beside them.

HE IS CLOSER THAN WE THINK!

Instead of revealing Himself, Jesus opened the Scriptures and helped them understand God’s bigger plan. They later said:

“Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
Luke 24:32

Luke highlights two truths:

  • Jesus reveals Himself through Scripture.
  • Jesus opens our understanding.

Often, God doesn’t change our circumstances first — He changes our perspective, opening our hearts and revealing His truth.

When life is hectic, flying by too fast, when God doesn’t make sense, or we feel alone, let’s believe that Jesus is present. The disciples thought they were walking alone, but Jesus was present. I believe the same is true for us. In seasons of disappointment, confusion, transition, or uncertainty, Jesus is closer than we realize.

Have you ever asked the “where” and “why” questions? Where are You, Lord? Why is this happening?

Where in your life do you desire Jesus to open your understanding? Lord, may our hearts burn within by Your Spirit, trusting You to reveal Your presence and truths!
