“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Have you ever felt faithless? Have you been consumed or overwhelmed by hardships you’ve faced? How have you responded when your mind and soul was troubled?
Jeremiah wrote these words during one of Israel’s darkest seasons. Jerusalem had experienced terrible destruction and loss. Yet right in the middle of his grief, Jeremiah makes a deliberate choice: “Yet this I call to mind…” He remembers the character of God.
Life can deal us joyful and unpredictable circumstances. The unexpected twists and turns, opened doors, closed doors, waiting, questioning …“Lord, what are You doing?”
Even when our circumstances are uncertain, God’s character is not.
I’ve been reminded in this season of my life as a pastor, serving others who have or are experiencing hard times and hardships! I don’t have answers or always understand what God is doing. But I can know this: Seasons change. Circumstances change. Plans change. But God remains faithful.
Maybe instead of asking, “Lord, what’s next or what now?” I can ask, “Lord, how can I be faithful to You in this season?”
Dear Father, Thank You for being a Faithful God no matter the season I’m encountering. Help me to remember who You are, that Your love never changes and Your mercy is new every morning. Thank You for Your faithful presence. Help me to trust You one day, one moment at a time, through any season. Great is Your faithfulness!
